Lori Epstein, RDO: Optician

Lori is a well-known and trusted optician who arrived at State Street Eye after moving her optical store Visual-Eyes to our office in December 2016.   Her decision to make Visual-Eyes part of State Street Eye, and move a short walking distance to 33 Broad Street was made after much thoughtful consideration.  “I wasn’t ready to retire because I enjoy being an optician” she says “but I no longer wanted the responsibility of business ownership.  State Street Eye was a perfect fit because I could offer my staff, clients and patients continuity, but also an enhanced eye care experience.”

In addition to her optical knowledge and exceptional service, Lori has brought to State Street Eye her creative flair, and is the designer of our notable window displays.  She enjoys staying up-to-date on frame trends and lens technologies, and teaches an accredited course in eyewear merchandising for members of the Opticians Association of Massachusetts.

Lori is originally from New Rochelle, New York, and became a permanent resident of Boston upon graduating from Western New England University.  Her career plans to become a psychologist were diverted after she found her passion while working in an optical store in Kenmore Square.  She went on to accept an apprenticeship in opticianry, and later became co-founder and owner of Visual-Eyes – serving clients and patients for more than three decades from her Financial District storefront.

When Lori is not at our State Street Eye office, she can be found antiquing, cooking, or spending time with her family, including her two grown children.

Welcome patients of Visual-Eyes!
